I bought this exact machine in 2006 for a kitchen renovation. Until three years ago it was by far my favorite appliance given how much trash our family produces. However, three years ago the 'stop' motor failed. About a year ago it stopped compacting without getting stuck. Is a compactor only supposed to last 8 years with daily use?
